Welcome to our Website

From our base in the picturesque Birling Gap on the south Coast of England we operate a rescue boat and lookout service during the summer season from April to the end of September. Due to our location we have to launch our rib using a crane from our boat house which is located at the top of the cliff. We work closely with the local RNLI and Coast Guards to assist in any incidents that may occur during our watch.

We are a registered charity and rely on voluntary contributions to cover our running costs. Our members meet regularly on the first Thursday every month for our general purpose meeting at the Birling Gap Hotel. This gives a chance for our members to discuss operational maters and to introduce new members to the association.

We are always interested to welcome new members who can join as social or active members. Our active members our able to train as boat crew and learn about the handling, operation and safety aspects of rescue boat work. We also encourage our crew to take the RYA certified courses for power boat operation and radio competence. Some of our members like to be part of our  shore crew, which again are an important part of running our operations. They operate the radio, crane, launch the boat , advise members of the public on beach safety and keep watch. We also have a large social membership which help us by attending our functions and generally support our activities. If you are interested in joining us then our contact details are available by following the contact us link.

A warm welcome is always guaranteed for all new members
