Saturday 19th September 2009

Boat launched to Seaford Head at 13:29 after report of possible sighting of a divers BCD by a fishing boat following and earlier incident. A waterproof jacket was found, boat returned to station.

Launched at 12:20  to a German visitor, cut off by the tide between  Birling Gap and Beachy Head

Launched to 2 people, cut off by the tide.  Birling Gap Coastguards were tasked, and Newhaven Lifeboat was also called.

Assisted a lady who was training for a swim, and stood by, in case of emergency.

Assisted a canoeist, by emptying his kayak, after he lost control in strong surf.

The dreadnaught rowers asked if we could stand by, to watch them cross the bay in case of emergencies.

33 students became cut off by the tide, we informed Birling Gap Coastguards, Eastbourne  and Newhaven Lifeboats attended to assist in getting all the students to safety.

Asked by Solent Coastguard to assist with a casualty at Beachy Head.  New rescue boat launched on maiden voyage, diverted to assist 2 persons cut off by tide.

On patrol, found a person cut off by the tide, refused assistance so monitored situation and notified Coastguard.

Monday 27th August 2007

At 11:30 the boat was launched to assist a vessel on fire one mile off Birling Gap. One casualty in the water was rescued by another vessel in the proximity; Newhaven Lifeboat attended.

At 17:30 the boat was launched to assist an inflatable boat off Birling Gap beach with 2 children on board adrift; their mother swam out to them to try and bring them ashore but was also in difficulties. Mother and children were safely returned to the beach, Newhaven Lifeboat was also in attendance to assist if required.

Sunday 12th August 2007

At 12:50 the boat was launched to assist a broken down vessel off Belle Tout. The rescue boat remain alongside until the Newhaven Lifeboat arrived and a line was transferred to the Lifeboat so that the vessel could be towed back to Newhaven.

At 14:45 while out on patrol 2 persons were picked up between Beachy Head and Belle Tout after being cut off by the tide and safely returned to Birling Gap.

Sunday 10th June 2007

Our boat was first to locate a woman who was injured at the foot of Beachy Head on Sunday 10th June 2007, she was accompanied by two friends who raised the alarm. Crews from Newhaven and Eastbourne lifeboats attended the scene which was coordinated by  the local Coastguard from Birling Gap and was supported by the Eastbourne Coast guards at the top of the cliffs. The casualty was airlifted to Birling Gap were she was transported by Ambulance to Eastbourne DGH.
